| The majority of previous research stated that the seismic response of structures adjacent to tunnels during an earthquake might differ from that of structures further away from tunnels. However, this issue is not addressed in the relevant codes for process design. This study used Hankel functions to evaluate the seismic response of structures adjacent to tunnels subjected to far-field earthquakes. The authors of this paper used MATLAB to create a new model called FESCAM. A set of Bessel function transform theories and numerical analyses was applied to design numerical solutions in the proposed model. An integrated approach can accomplish the analysis of plane pressure waves (P-waves) in twin circular tunnels in terms of scattering waves. The case study was selected as the Karim Khan Citadel and adjacent subway tunnels. The numerical simulation was conducted in two distinct scenarios: with and without twin tunnels. The results indicate that the maximum scattering occurred when the incoming wave angle was α=30°, and the tunnel angle was θ=90°. The overall results suggest no statistically significant difference between the two case study scenarios. When considering the citadel with and without twin tunnels, the horizontal and total displacements varied between 2.2-33.7% and 2.1-23.7 percent, respectively. | ||
